Year 5: Trip to Salisbury Museum

Linked to our ‘Fast Fashion’ Humanities topic, Year 5 travelled to Salisbury Museum to attend a ‘Fashioning Our World’ workshop.  Firstly, we visited the galleries to find out about some of the different fashions from the past and to learn how people used to protect, repair, reuse and recycle their clothes. We then practised our running stitch and button sewing techniques.  The final activity was to work in teams to create an outfit out of newspaper, fit for the museum catwalk.  Year 5 had a great day out and learnt how to make fashion more sustainable and we thought about how we can all do our bit in the future!
