U10s Netball Tournament at Millfield

U10s Netball Tournament at Millfield

The U10 girls netball team travelled to Millfield on Wednesday for their final tournament of the season. Our first game was against Hazelgrove and we had a very close fought game.  3-3 at half time but Sandroyd rose to the challenge and finally secured their first win of the day 6-3.

We then played Bristol Grammar School which was an open and enjoyable game to watch. The girls played some lovely netball with Margo, Kitty & Georgia scoring, supported by Claudia, Bo, Holly and Sophia. Our defence held on strongly to stop BGS scoring in the second half and the game was a rather one sided affair of 8-2. Rosie, Enna & Gigi were fantastic at the back of the court!

Sherborne were next and we were ruthless and determined in the final group game. Sandroyd ran away with the lead and deserved to win 5-1. We then moved up to play in the Semi Finals as group winners with three games unbeaten. As the draw panned out, Sandroyd faced BGS again in the semi final and won 12-0. Some beautiful netball on show with Sophia, Claudia and Holly in particular dominating the centre third.

Onto the final and the two unbeaten teams took centre stage. Blundells had won all their matches in a similar manner to Sandroyd so this was going to be a tight affair. 3-5 down at half time, Sandroyd dug deep to level the final score to 5-5. A quick check of the rulebook showed that the medals were going to be decided on goals scored and goal averages. Both Blundells and Sandroyd had equal goals scored but we had lost two more goals against us than our opposition so disappointingly didn’t win the gold medal. However, on balance, both teams played some lovely netball and all the girls thoroughly enjoyed their day and there were plenty of smiles all round.  Well done all!!
