Skills Week: The Walled Garden

Skills Week: The Walled Garden

Reception

Skills week started for Reception with a Cheerios Challenge, moving Cheerios using a straw across an obstacle course! We then had a timed challenge and had to see how many Cheerios we could move using a cocktail stick in three minutes. We have played “five minute to win it” how many words or number sentences we could complete. Other activities across the week have included; “meet your match”; children have painted large pictures of themselves and “find your other half”; children attempted to draw the mirror image of their face. Part of skills week involved the Reception Children joining with Year One, in preparation for their move to this class next year. With the Year One children we enjoyed an obstacle course, holding a ball between the backs of each pair of children, aptly demonstrated by Mrs Campbell-Hill and Mrs Lambert-Hurley! We also made smores and charcoal using the fire pit. Finally, we made badges using clay and with the recycle art challenge helped to make a representation of on of the lovely flower boarders from the garden.

Nursery

Our Nursery children have had another busy week for Skills Week, the activities included Magic Monday, potion making with glitter, flower petals and gorgeous colours. The children created some marvellous spells from potions to make us fly to potions that can make sausages. We had a Bake off - Banana bread and biscuit decorating, the children decorated their own biscuits and two teams made a banana bread following the recipe themselves. We also loved our outdoor learning which included a blindfolded obstacle course where the children partnered up and guided each other around an obstacle course in the woods, created by the children.
