Shortlisted for TES Independent School Awards 2019!
The innovative and informative new STRIVE programme at Sandroyd has been recognised in the Strategic Education Initiative of the Year Award in the TES Independent School Awards, 2019.
Sandroyd is elated to be one of only eight schools to have been shortlisted for such a noteworthy award, a reflection of the hard work and determination of the teaching staff over the past 12 months to develop and integrate this new programme.
“It is wonderful to build on Sandroyd’s excellence. This shortlisting is a great reflection of the dedication of the Sandroyd staff working together to continually explore ways to challenge and stretch our pupils” Headmaster Alastair Speers comments. “In addition to this award, we have also been shortlisted for Pre-Prep/Prep School of the Year and Boarding Schol of the Year. The Sandroyd staff continually look for improvements in all areas of the school and I am delighted that this has been acknowledged. We are continuing to adapt our academic curriculum and this is an exciting time for the school moving forward.”

To see this recognised on a national level is wonderful.”
These prestigious national awards, organised by The Times Educational Supplement (TES), showcase and celebrate excellence in independent schools across the whole of the UK and, indeed, the world. The School credits its place in the final in three categories as a result of combined successes in the classroom – high academic results, and more importantly the strong value-added both inside and outside the classroom. This is, in addition, to an ongoing development of boarding – notably its pastoral care initiatives, and a commitment to providing a full and varied range of engaging boarding opportunities; and also successfully integrating Strive into the school programme since September 2017. Staff, parents and pupils agree that developing ‘soft skills’ taught during Strive have created a visible difference with positive changes in the pupils. The awards are based on evidence and data submitted for the year 2017/18.

We received a record number of entries this year and the standard is the highest yet, so to be shortlisted is an extraordinary achievement for any school.”
The winners will be revealed at a gala awards evening at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on Friday 1 February 2019.
