Scholars: Election Debate

The Scholarship group have become the leaders of four fictional political parties each with their own manifesto. They have campaigned and written election speeches and have been supported by students throughout the prep school. There has been an excited buzz as children discuss policies. On Tuesday evening the whole school watched as the candidates presented their arguments to the potential voters. They were then grilled with a selection of challenging questions from the floor.

On Thursday, there once again was high excitement as Sandroyd now went to the polls in our school election. The candidates worked hard to canvas as many pupils as possible and it is clear that the debate 2 nights previously changed some children’s minds.
The election was organised to be as close to a real election as possible. Pupils had to register to vote, and on receiving their polling card waited outside the polling station (DT room) to collect their ballot paper.
The school was divided into year group constituencies and, after the final count, it was Vision who won with a majority of 2 seats!
