Chinese New Year

This morning started with a fantastic class assembly performed by our Year 2 children for parents, year 3 and all The Walled Garden about ‘The Great Race’. We watched as the animals crossed the river to see which order the years would be named. Following our assembly all the children from Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 took part in various Chinese New Year activities including craft, Chinese calendar wheels, dragon painting, making dragons, singing songs and dancing in our lion heads. We were fortunate to be joined by 4 of our prep school boarders who live in China who came to talk to us about Chinese New Year, where they live, their favourite foods, how to write Chinese characters and taught us how to say numbers in Chinese. The morning ended with a snack of fortune cookies and we all received a red envelope with a coin. What a fantastically busy morning!
